Most of the twitter fictions I came up with were really more like excerpts--a phrase or sentence that felt like it belonged in a larger work, instead of being a story itself. I chose this one because there is a definite scene with a clear setting, followed by a conclusion, instead of the entire entry being just a summary.
Yes. Interesting problem and a good solution! I like the ellipsis you've employed in the last sentence. Could the "reason" be even more mysterious? Like the misdirection of the title, as well.
